The Art of Packing Light for Europe
One carry-on, three weeks, zero regrets. Here's the packing system our tour leaders swear by.
After hundreds of European departures, our tour leaders agree: nobody ever wishes they'd packed more.
Start with a 40L carry-on and the rule of three — three tops per bottom, everything in one colour family. Merino beats cotton for a week between washes. Shoes are the killer: one pair walking, one pair evening, worn not packed.
Roll, don't fold, and use packing cubes to separate clean from worn. Leave 20% of the bag empty — that space is for the ceramics you'll buy in Santorini.
Finally, photograph your passport and cards, and keep a €50 note somewhere that isn't your wallet. You'll probably never need it. That's the point.
